Lift Me Up Therapeutic Riding is seeking a dedicated and experienced Barn Manager to join our compassionate team in Great Falls, Virginia. This is a unique opportunity to support life-changing equine-assisted programs for children and adults with disabilities, veterans, first responders, and seniors.

About Us:
Lift Me Up has been a trusted nonprofit since 1975, offering therapeutic riding and horsemanship programs that foster independence, confidence, and joy. Our barn is home to a beloved herd of therapy horses, and our volunteers and staff share a deep commitment to safety, care, and community.

Role Overview:
The Barn Manager is responsible for the daily care and well-being of our horses, overseeing barn operations, and ensuring a safe, clean, and organized environment for lessons and volunteers. This role is central to our mission and requires both hands-on expertise and strong leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide daily care for horses including feeding, turnout, grooming, and stall maintenance
  • Monitor equine health and coordinate veterinary, farrier, and dental care
  • Manage barn staff and volunteers with clear communication and inclusive leadership
  • Maintain barn equipment, supplies, and cleanliness to ensure safety and readiness
  • Collaborate with instructors to support lesson schedules and horse assignments
  • Uphold LMU's standards of care, safety protocols, and mission-driven culture


    Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years of professional equine care experience; therapeutic riding experience a plus
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs and work outdoors in all seasons
  • Experience managing staff or volunteers preferred
  • Passion for equine-assisted services and inclusive community-building
